Stocking Stuffers

Stocking Stuffers

Do you gift "Useful" presents or, as Dylan Thomas would call them, "Useless" presents?

Shopping for the "Useless" presents is so much more fun than shopping for the Useful ones, don't you think? I mean, who can resist a Hedgehog brush?!  Admittedly, no one needs a Hedgehog brush...  But it sure is nice to have :)

These stocking stuffers are a mix of the useful & the useless.  (I think the dishcloths bridge the two categories perfectly.)

I love this list of  "Useless" presents from "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas: ..."Bags of moist and many-colored jelly babies and a folded flag and a false nose and a tram-conductor's cap and a machine that punched tickets and rang a bell; never a catapult; once, by mistake that no one could explain, a little hatchet; and a celluloid duck that made, when you pressed it, a most unducklike sound, a mewing moo that an ambitious cat might make who wished to be a cow;"

P.S.  Here's a link to a recording of Dylan Thomas reading "A Child's Christmas in Wales" - get the fire started, pour a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the reading.
