Long Hill Garden is an expansive garden and trail system on the former estate of Ellery Sedgwick. The property is also the location of offices for The Trustees. There are outdoor "rooms" and follies (like the pagoda my son Sam is standing in). Scattered around the property are pools with water lilies and (popular with the younger crowd) frogs!
There are textures and patterns all over this place. I love the stone steps that have little succulents growing in between the risers. And there is a garden shed with beautifully weathered board and batten siding nearly hidden behind a blanket of green. The gate to the flower garden is made from branches that I'm guessing must have come from the grounds.
Sweetgum is partnered with The Trustees (who manage this property) through 1%ForThePlanet. We have collaborated with The Trustees on an upcoming event: South End Garden Tour in Boston on Saturday June 17th. There is a private brunch as part of this garden tour and Sweetgum is providing the linens for the guests. We'll be going to the garden tour ourselves and can't wait to share photos of the event in the blog next week.
