the making

I'm very happy to announce some plans for  PLACE... in the making™

In the past few weeks, I've reached out to other makers, photographers and architects to see if there was an interest in exploring the topics behind this blog: the making™  is the celebration of a region through essays, photography & products.

It is the exploration of the characteristics that create a Sense of Place.

  • Why we are drawn to certain places to make them our home
  • What taste and scent tell us about the the history and geography of a region
  • How a maker is informed by their geographical and cultural surroundings when designing & crafting
  • Where is this sense of place found

What I found is that many creative people and makers are also interested in this subject and were happy to jump on board to explore this topic together.

As a result, the making now has plans to be a printed publication available this fall.  The details are being worked out, but we do know is that it's going to be a beautiful collection of stories about places in New England combined with products from regional makers.  The products will be all made in New England by small batch makers and will be available just in time for the holidays.

The printed publication will be sold by pre-order and there will be a limited quantity available as this is the debut issue.  The products associated with the publication will also be limited in quantity as these are all small batch makers.  Sign up below to get on the the making™ newsletter.
